Gala Corsage
Our 'Gala Corsage' project brief asked us to design an invitation and corsage for a themed gala event. I chose to take the film, 'Twilight' as inspiration for a set of moodier colours and choice of materials - it was nice to work with a darker selection for a bit of a change, and I quite enjoyed the process of matching flowers and foliage to my interpretation of the feel of the book and film. This was also the first time we were asked to source our own flowers and to work within a budget - a few jammy bargains luckily left me with a few quid to spare!

Victorian Posy
Made up using individually wired bits of flowers and plant material arranged in concentric circles representing everlasting love, the Victorian posie is as a result a popular wedding choice. It's designed in a dome arrangement so that whatever angle it's viewed from, it's always perfectly interesting and equal. This was great practice for wiring technique and definitely worth the extra bit of time. I've used little pink spray roses, white hyacinth and alstroemeria along with hypericum here.

LED Leaves
Spanish designers Luzinterruptus have created an installation in Madrid by attaching LED lights to leaves. Think this would be a great idea for a night-time event in Autumn - saves raking!
Corsages
This was our first lesson in wiring and making corsages - although a bit fiddly to begin with, I eventually got the hang of it, and really enjoyed working to a small and detailed scale. I made two corsages in different colourways for a bit of variation - the first uses red hypericum and white hyacinth, the second purple freshia, ivy and white hyacinth with a pink rose.
